じょうじん【常人】

an ordinary [average] person [mortal]; the general public.

●常人と異なる be extraordinary; be above average

・常人とは異なる感性 extraordinary [above-average] sensitivity

・彼にはどこか常人とは違うところがある. There is something extraordinary about him.

●君の考えることは私らのような常人にはわからんね. Your ideas are beyond ordinary mortals like us, you know.

●常人の理解を超えている be beyond (the understanding of) the man in the street
